ABOUT THE COURSE:

This course has been designed to ensure that leads are able to implement their responsibilities in safeguarding children from harm, in line with Government and Local Safeguarding Children Board protocols. Suitable for those who have completed Basic Safeguarding training.

Learners will be awarded a certificate on successful completion on the course and course assessment.

Certification lasts for 2 years. Learners are advised to attend an annual refresher course to ensure they stay up to date with the latest legislation and guidance.

  • Describe the role of the designated lead:

  • State key areas of responsibility;

  • Describe key legislation & guidance that underpins the role;

  • Identify the steps your organisation need to take to ensure the safety of children;

  • Detail barriers to staff reporting concerns about children and how to overcome them;

  • Make appropriate decisions about action to be taken;

  • Understand the importance of recording, storing & sharing information;

  • Understand emotional wellbeing of staff;

  • Manage referrals
