ABOUT THE COURSE:

This course will help you to recognise abuse, know current procedures, learn how to deal with the issues, where to get help and support and understand what your responsibilities are when working with children and young people.

This course is accredited by Learn and Inspire who are an approved centre awarded by Trainer Courses Ltd as well as qualified in training Safeguarding through Nuco Training.

Certification lasts for 3 years. Learners are advised to attend an annual refresher course to ensure they stay up to date with the latest legislation and guidance. This course is suitable for all staff.

What you will learn:

  • Know about child maltreatment in its different forms

  • Know about relevance of parental, family and carer factors such as domestic abuse, mental and physical ill-health, substance and alcohol misuse

  • Know what to do if there are concerns about child maltreatment

  • Know about the importance of sharing information

  • Know what to do if they feel that their concerns are not being taken seriously

  • Know the risks associated with the internet and online social networking

  • Know what the term ‘Looked after child’ means

  • Be able to recognise possible signs of child maltreatment as this relates to their role

  • Be able to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, and feel confident that they have been listened to.
